Dr. Chandramma Sagar Center for Women Empowerment and Skills Training (DC - WEST)

Under the aegis of Dr. Chandramma Sagar Center for Women Entrepreneurship and Skills Training (DC-WEST), DSCE is conducting several activities for the empowerment of women.

Empowerment of women which helps them to take their own decisions by breaking all personal limitations of the society and family. Empowering women is to make them independent in all aspects from mind, thought, rights, decisions, etc by leaving all the social and family limitations. It is to bring equality in the society for both male and female in all areas.

DSCE has organized many events for the empowerment of women and still continues the same.

  • The Clothesline Project

    The Clothesline Project

    The department of MCA in collaboration with Durga India under aegis of WHGR Cell, DSCE and DCWEST conducted an awareness program on “The Clothesline project” to address the issue of violence against women at our campus on 8thDecember 2022. The students of MCA actively took part in organizing the event. They took up the initiative of spreading the awareness of the event amongst the other students of DSI.

  • Workshop on Sustainable Menstruation

    Workshop on Sustainable Menstruation

    A seminar was organized on ‘Sustainable Menstruation’for the students and staff of DSCE by Dr. Aarushi Kehar, Senior Manager Research, Sirona Hygiene Foundation at 11:00AM on Saturday, 18th December 2021. The seminar included introduction to complexity of addressing menstruation, its importance, best practices and clinical approaches. It brought the awareness amongst students regarding the importance of menstrual health & hygiene.

    Webinar on “Menstrual Hygiene Session”

    On Account of Women’s Day, Dept of MCA organized a webinar on “Menstrual Hygiene Session” as an activity of ‘Women’s Grievances and Redressal Cell’ under the aegis of DC-WEST for all DSI female students and faculty members.     Department of Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, DSCE, in association with IWSA, Bangalore Chapter, celebrated the 24th International women’s day under the aegis of Dr. Chandramma Sagar Center for Women Empowerment and Skills Training (DCWEST) on 21st March 2019 to honor womanhood and acknowledge all women in the world for making this world a better place for everyone to live in.

    Report on Self Defense Workshop

    • Time: 10.30 AM
    • Venue: Dr. PC Auditorium Food Court.

    DC-WEST in association with TechFest of IIT Bombay conducted Nirbhaya- a Self-Defense workshop for girl students of DSCE. The trainer for the event was Mr. Fawad Ullah Syed, a Karate Black Belt, International Gold Medalist and Dojo Instructor from World Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Organization. The event was organized by the Department of MCA.

    More than 110 girl students attended the event. Dr. Poornima Nataraja, HOD, Department of MCA welcomed the Principal Dr. C P S Prakash, Vice-Principal Dr. D R Ramesh Babu, Mr. Fawad Ullah Syed and his team. The Principal addressed the students on the relevance of self-defense for girls in modern times, where mobility and independence of girls has to be complemented with basic knowledge of survival under adverse situations.

    World Yoga Day Celebration

    On June 21, 2017 to mark the celebration of International Yoga Day, Department of Automobile Engineering, , Department of MCA, andDepartment of Mathematicsunder the banner of DC-WEST had invited ISHA foundation, Jayanagar, Bangalore for learning Upa Yoga formulated by his excellence Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.

    Principal Dr. C.P.S. Prakash presided over the celebration and participated in practicing and learning yoga along with Vice Principal Dr. H. Ramakrishna. HOD’s of various departments along with their faculty and instructors actively participated in the celebration from 10.15am to 12.30pm at Seminar Hall, Heritage Building, DSCE.

    CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY - 2017

    The second year of celebrating International women’s day was organized through Dr.Chandramma Sagar Center for Women Empowerment and Skills Training between 6-8th March 2017. The event was a successful one with faculty across Dayanandasagar Institutions participating in the events. The event was coordinated by the students of MCA and first year engineering. We take this opportunity to thank the management for supporting women centric activities and also Oriflame for sponsoring gifts for the winners. M/S Oriflame also sponsored the visitors to their stall with a free facial and makeup orientation session.

      

    On the first day, the following events were organised: “Musical chair” and “I know it all”. This included playing of tagline quizzes, logo quizzes, and guessing of audio clips along with musical chair. The second day involved the following games: “One minute game” and “Tuk Tuk”. These were games that involved various activities such as rapid fires which awaited quick responses from the participants. “Cooking without fire” was held on the third day wherein the participants prepared a variety of mouth-watering dishes and this event was judged by our respected Vice-Principal and Director.

    The oriflame gift hampers were then given away as prizes to the respective winners of all the events but the highlight of the event was “the lucky draw winners” by Oriflame. Overall the three-day women’s day celebration was a very highly spirited one and the participants as well as the organisers had a wonderful time.
