NON-TECHNICAL EVENTS:

Air crash

• Students of IV and VIII semester actively took part in this event representing famous women scientists such as Madam Marie Curie, Kalpana Chawala, Rosalind Franklin, Elizabeth Blackburn and Barbara McClintock defending themselves to prove creditable to get the last parachute before the crash.

Treasure Hunt

• Hunting the hidden treasure by solving the codes. This event was fun at the same time very challenging as solving the puzzle and the codes was not at all easy. Students of IV, and VI semester actively took part in this.

Art exhibition

• Students of IV, VI and VIII semester displayed their creativity and their priceless contributions which included pencil sketches; oil paintings, mural art, jet ink art and pencil lead carvings.

Food stalls

• VI and VIII semester students got actively involved in a series of fireless cooking and baking.


QUIZ

• Students of IV and VI semester actively took part in this twisted quiz where they had to take shapes and forms as per the twister clock and answer to the core stream questions. The second round of the quiz had a warm-up session tutorial that the participants had to follow up watching the video and without missing the steps on the video, had to answer the queries simultaneously!


HEADS-UP

• Students of IV and VI semester actively took part in this event where they had to guess a biology related word that the opposite person would in act to them by non-related words and actions.


MODEL MAKING AND PRESENTATION

• Students of IV and VI semester actively took part in this and presented various 3D-models on topics such as Coronary angioplasty, heart beat sensor, haemodialysis equipment, bioreactors, transient sensor, vertical hydroponics, obstacle detector etc. where some of them had even self-coded the programs to construct working models.

• Ms. Sanghamitra Bhattacharjee, Senior Manager from Zumutor Biologics shared her journey in the industrial realm and her challenges.


BIOZONE

The coordinators for Biotechnology students’ club - ‘BIOZONE’ are Mr.TarunShyam Mohan (6th semester) and Miss PranjnyaSreenivas (4th semester).A ‘BIOHACKATHON’ was conducted on 12th March 2019. The final round teams were selected by the BT club co-ordinators after logical science question quiz for all the interested participants. Two teams from 6th semester and 1 team from 4th semester qualified for the finals, which was conducted on 12th March, 2019. Dr.Binita S Tunga, Director and co-founder-Ameliorate Biotech Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru was the chief guest for the occasion. Dr.Chaitanya R Tabid, Assistant Professor, School of Basic and Applied sciences, DSU and Dr.NRajeswari, Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, DSCE were the judges. The winners were decided from a 5 minutes presentation on the problem assigned to them “Wet waste management in DSCE campus”. The first prize was awarded to the team from 4th semester consisting of Ms.SrujanaNeelavar, Ms.Chandana, Ms. Amoolya S and Ms.Sneha S who proposed a Biozyme approach for the problem which was innovative and product oriented.
