      ORIGIN: As per the culture of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, since 2014, Department of Management Studies, organizes an inter and intra collegiate Marketing Event under “PHILIP KOTLER” Club for aspirants assembling from various Business schools with a very high competitive spirit to participate and with the strong determination to include their achievements & accomplishments to their resumes. The festival is organized every year with the objective to provide platform for the students to showcase their talent with a competitive spirit. The event was successful enough to attract as many as 100 registrations which include all the rounds. The festival executed with a total of 5 rounds planned and organized at its best of quality. The event was sponsored by Big Mishra’s, Maruthi Medicals, Elegant Pixels, Sri Krishna Aramane, RedBull and LIC of India.

    • JUST-A-MINUTE (JAM)

      JUST-A-MINUTE (JAM):

      Venue: C.K Prahalad Hall

      Participants: Sem 1 & 3 students, MBA (VTU)

      ORIGIN: The I Semester students undergo a 20-hour program titled Voice-Articulation-Debate lab (VAD Lab). The objective of these sessions is to equip students with the requisite communication skills to excel on the job. Through the course of this 20-hour program, students are put through various activities that mirror real-world events from everyday corporate life. While some of these activities are simulations, others are activities with a competitive blend. One such activity - JAM - was conducted on Oct 15th. The objective of JAM is for a speaker to speak non-stop for a minute without being stopped by a competitor for making an error. To provide a real competitive flavor to the activity, two teams of 4-members each went head-to-head while seeking to establish supremacy over the other. While one team was made up of Sem 3 students (seniors), the other comprised of Sem 1 students (juniors).

      Furious action: The competition spanned 5-rounds and the team that aggregated the most "talk time" at the end of each round was adjudged the winner of the said round. Subsequently, the team that pocketed the most rounds won the competition. The teams were provided with a separate theme for each round. These included Bollywood, Social Responsibility, Clean Politics, Indian Economy and Indian Sports.

      The juniors were off the block early and won the 1st round comprehensively. Rattled after conceding an early lead, the seniors pulled up their socks. The next 3-rounds witnessed a strong exchange of opinions and frequent rebuttals. While the juniors strived to consolidate their early lead, the seniors slowly but surely inched back to level the score at 1-1.

      Seniors prevail - Thereafter, it was all one-way traffic. Once they got the measure of proceedings, the seniors drove home the advantage and after 4-rounds, the seniors rode on the advantage of momentum and won the competition. Despite the fierce competition on display, all competitors exchanged congratulatory messages while reflecting warm camaraderie.

      Prof. Rahul G Kargal conducted JAM Activity for II Semester MBA Students as a part of Club activity.

      Objective: Improvement of speaking & listening skills.

      About the activity

      • Participants are to speak on a contemporary topic of their choice
      • Contestants must ensure that their "talk" is factually correct, devoid of grammatical & sentence construction errors and does not contain a "pause".
      • Contestants must observe and call out a competitor for violating the rules to assume the right to speak
      • After a few rounds, the speaker with the most aggregate "talk time" wins the contest.

      Department Of Management Studies (MBA-VTU), DSCE, Philip Kotler Club is conducting Marketing event ‘Gestione 2017’ on 22nd December 2017 at CD Sagar Auditorium at 9.30AM. ‘Gestione’ is a Marketing event tailored to test the Marketing knowledge of the students in hopes of preparing them for the future.
