The Department of Physics, DSCE in association with other circuit branches jointly organized a talk on 18-03-2022 for the one week FDP. Dr. Phaneendra K Yalavarthy is working as a Professor in the Department of Computational and Data Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. His research interests include Computational methods in medical imaging, deep learning in medical imaging, medical image processing (reconstruction/analysis), physiological signal processing, diffuse optical imaging, and photoacoustic imaging. He is a senior member of IEEE, OSA, & SPIE and serves as an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging. The title of the talk was Deep Learning in Medical Imaging: The Road Ahead. The speaker gave a detailed talk about the methods of medical imaging and their requirement, method involved and efficiency of different devices and the technologies involved in them. He briefed about the topics like AI supported imaging processes and radiology, Health care and work flow challenges, Pandemic based Chest computed tomography. The coordinator of the event was Dr. Vidya C, faculty from the Department of Physics, along with HODs of circuit branches and Principal Dr. C P S Prakash. There were more than 100 participants including faculties and research scholars.

Department of Physics in association with Department of Mechanical Engineering of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering conducted a webinar on “Identifying Intellectual Property Component at the early stage of innovation” for the students, scholars and teaching faculties on . Prof. Anusuya K P, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics and Humanities, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering delivered the lecture. Mrs Anusuya has done her Master of Law from Bangalore University and a PGDM in Intellectual property rights. She is also a practicing advocate and a POSH member. The course content delivered in the webinar is as follows: The impact of recent development in the Intellectual property rights applicable to the innovation in the field of engineering were discussed in this session. Speaker discussed the basic concepts used in the law relating with best suitable real life examples which are essential for the understanding of the particular law. She projected a clear understanding of the importance of various IPRs and future problems in the real world. She inspired the audience by giving suitable real events as examples on topics. The overall organization and deliverance of the webinar was helpful for the budding entrepreneurs. There were more than 100 participants, including students of our institution, faculties and research scholars. Department of Physics in association with Department of Mechanical Engineering jointly conducted a webinar on “Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Mind” for the students, scholars and teaching faculties. There were around 100 participants, including students of our institution, faculties and research scholars. Mr. Kiran Ramareddy, Senior Enterprise Architect and Teacher at Art of living, Bangalore delivered the lecture. Mr. Kiran Ramareddy is associated with the IT field for more than 20 years and is certified in different technologies and is a technology consultant. He has actively participated and volunteered for ‘River Rejuvenation’, Uttara Pinakini (North Pennar). He has also conducted more than 100 happiness programs and Youth Leadership Training Programs. The course content delivered in the webinar is as follows: An entrepreneur is an individual who sets up and grows a business. They combine different factors of production (such as – land, labor and capital) to try and create a new profitable business venture. Entrepreneurs are themselves an important ‘factor of production’ and an essential aspect of a functioning free market economy. The Speaker of the session Mr. Kiran Ramareddy presented the keynote address on “Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Mind”. He discussed the basic concepts that affects and alters the mindset of any person who is willing to enter the field of entrepreneurship and innovation. Students interacted with the speaker regarding the pros and cons of being an entrepreneur. Invited Talk On Optical fiber communication

On 17th February 2020, Department of Physics, DSCE organized an invited talk on “Optical fiber communication”. The invited talk was delivered by the eminent Professor, Dr. K. Srinivasan. Around 200 students from first year Engineering attended this invited talk and the objective of this was to give the students a good understanding of optical fiber and the power of Light in digital communication using optical fibers.

Faculty coordinator, Dr Priya A H welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker. The speaker spoke about Physics behind the principles of optical fibers, modes of operation of optical fibers and the importance of optical fiber in digital communication. The speaker highlighted upon how the basic knowledge on optics can be used for technological applications. Students found this lecture as interesting and informative. Then the session was open for questions and students got better understanding on the topic with the interaction session with the speaker. Dr. C M Joseph, HOD, Physics gave the vote of thanks followed by a group photo session with the speaker.
