Dr. Radha Guptha

Mathematics, the study of quantity, structure, space and change, is used as an essential tool in natural sciences, engineering, medicine and the social sciences. The subject, which seeks to establish truth by arduous deduction, being the core foundation of the Field of Engineering, aids to build Analytical, Reasoning & Logical skills of the future Engineers and Researchers. Continuous Learning and Research activities satisfy the curiosity of students & it fulfils the objective of our department. The department has the Numerano Club which provides a unique platform for various disciplines of students to exchange their ideas. The activities that are conducted in the club are helpful in the self-development of the students. The Department of Mathematics at DSI has an excellent research reputation, a strong, demanding program and a full range of excellent course offerings. The department has faculty with research interests in virtually every area of mathematics.

Guest Lecture by Dr P G Siddheshwar :

the department of Mathematics organized a guest lecture on 20th March 2017.The resource person Dr Pradeep G Siddheshwar,a faculty of Mathematics , Bangalore University and Director, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Board, Bangalore University gave a motivation talk on 'Use of FOSS tools to Enhance Mathematics and how an engineer can help himself with it'.

Origami Workshop :

In the later half of the day, the department of Mathematics came up with another very interesting event, “Origami-Unfolding the Folds”” on 20th March 2017, which was initiated by Mrs Sharmila V S, faculty of Mathematics, and department of Mathematics supported by first year students of B.E. The workshop was well organized and kept the participants on their toes with its thrill and uniqueness.


On the account of National Science Day, students of First Year Engineering accompanied by 3 faculty members from the Department of Mathematics organized a Community Development Science Trip to FAME INDIA (Foundation for Action, Motivation and Empowerment) institution on 28th February, 2017..

One Day National Workshop on “Internet of Things”:

The one day workshop on “Internet of Things”, was organized on 17th February 2017 at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering campus for the benefit of students pursuing Masters degree course. About 152 PG Students attended the workshop apart from the faculty from various programs.
