This Invited Industry Lecture by Mr. Ajay Ganapule, Program Manager, TCS, is intended to help the faculty members to update themselves with one of the emerging technology “Cyber Security”. Department of CSE, DSCE, organised an invited talk on 22nd May 2021 at 11:15 am through virtual mode by Mrs. Sreelakshmi K S, R7D Manager, at Nokia Labs.
Mrs. Sreelakshmi, the expert speaker, has a vast experience in the field of telecommunications and has been working on 5G technology currently.
She spoke on “Wireless Technology Evolution with a Focus on 5G”, and explained the different generations of mobile communication. The students asked a number of queries on the concept 5G and its deployment details. The session was both interactive and informative.

Invited talk on "Machine Learning Projects in Industry"

A webinar was held on 22nd of May, 2021 between 11:30am 1:30pm, in the Department of CSE. It was attended by about 85 participants. The speaker was Apoorva Jaiswal, an alumna of CSE, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. The webinar started with Ms. Apoorva presenting topics on Machine Learning pipeline, a focus on building the data models and training them to get the desired result, data preparation, data ingestion, deploying the model, the different platforms.
She then spoke about the skill set required to work on the field stated above, skills required for Data Science, Data Analysis, Model Deployment, Data Engineering etc. She also included the sources one could access to learn these skills.
The session ended with an interactive question answer session, where participants asked the speaker about her journay from CSE, DSCE to JP Morgans. She resolved many queries on placement preparations.

Department of CSE, DSCE, organised an invited talk on 15th May 2021 at 11:15 am through virtual mode by Mr. Pratul Mukhopadhay.
Mr. Pratul, the expert speaker, has been our student between 2007-2011 under VTU. He has worked for 3.5+ years with Oracle India Pvt. Ltd. Bangalore, as a Senior Solution Engineer Currently he is working with HCL Technologies in Infrastructure Services Division as a Manager in Digital Workplace Practice - IT Infra Global Pre-Sales, Financial Services.
Mr. Pratul spoke on “Decoding the RFP Cycle – Understanding the End-to-End Process in the IT Industry”, and explained the complete Request for Proposal flow to the 6th semester students. The session was both interactive and informative.

Department of CSE organized a Webinar on 11/12/2020. The resource person was Mr. S Keshav Murthy, Faculty at WASE Wipro, Bengaluru and shared his vast experience in the Hardware Design. About 100 students of 3rd semester attended the event on “Applications of Hardware in Solving Arithmetic Problems” The event started with introduction to basic hardware components embedded in the ALU of the computer (universal gates), and was followed by its application in storing data , and preforming arithmetic problems , the event was concluded with various algorithms which are used to perform bit multiplication in a faster rate , the key take away of the event was the importance of hardware components in the functioning of a computer.

Finally, the applications of ETL in the real world, which certainly was the key take away from the event.

Invited Talk Series on "Preparedness for Higher Education"

An Invited Talk Series on Preparedness for Higher Education was conducted by ForeignAdmits on 8th February, 2020, Saturday from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in Gallery Room 2, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering as a part of ACM-W chapter. It was attended by 35 second and third year students across several departments. The speaker for the event was Nikhil Jain, the co-founder of ForeignAdmits and an alumnus of Monash University, Sydney.

He shared his experiences from studying abroad and about preparation for higher studies while in college. Information like timeline on when to start on various phases of the process, finding funding, various scholarships, things to do in the initial few days of college, writing Statement of Purpose, CV, Letters of Recommendation, etc. was shared. The talk was really insightful and all the participants received complementary help on applications for selected universities. Overall it was a successful event.

Compared the Services with all other employment opportunities, focussed on the guidelines how to prepare for the examination, listed out the available subjects ,examination pattern, eligibility criteria, showed the video of the IAS Training Academy. The session ended up with the students’ interaction.
