    SRISHTI -2018

    The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering had organized the Srishti-2018 as part of Open Day where in the projects of 8th semester students were exhibited in the department. The Event was held on 21st May 2018. The main aim of the project work was to understand and gain knowledge about new hardware and software tools by the students in various fields of Electronics and Communication. There were nearly 68 projects that were exhibited in various fields like Embedded systems, Communication Engineering, VLSI design, IoT and Image processing using different tools like MATLAB, XILINX and LABVIEW. And also the students were well versed with using different processors, GSM and GPS Systems. The whole projects were adjudged in four different reviews by an expert member.

    The guest of honor and the expert member for evaluating the projects was Dr. Parameshwaran from ISRO.

    On Saturday, 7th of Apr 2018, held a mini exhibition of projects made by students of sixth semester, studying the elective Digital System Design using Verilog (DSDV), under the guidance of Prof. A. Rajagopal. Twenty-eight teams showcased projects on a wide range of topics, such as Fixed point multiplication and subtraction, Barrel Shifter & Baugh Wooly Multiplier, Array multiplier & booth radix 4 multiplier, On chip Dual RAM Design, Carry Save multiplier, Logarithm and Antilogarithm Implementation, Floating point Subtraction and Division using IEEE 754 std., Systolic Array Architecture, Galois Field Implementation addition and Multiplication, LDPC Log SPA decoder, UART, ML sequence, BPSK, etc.

  • Autonomous Bell System Using Arduino

    Autonomous Bell System using Arduino

    A group of students from department of ECE, Sharath Kumar, Rakshith A. B., Tushar Shiralkar and Madhu Sudhan from 5thsemester and Aniruddha A and Alishan Aziz from seventh semester built a completely autonomous bell system using Arduino, under the guidance of Prof. A. Rajagopal. The complete system was built installed tested and trained by students at Government Primary School, Chandra Layout, Bengaluru, on 15th and 16th of July 2018. The entire model was donated by the group to the school & the team was honoured by the school authorities as a part of the social activity.

    NSS Students from ECE department participated in cleaning mission under Swacha Bharath Abhiyaanon 6th of Oct 2018 in association with Nagarika Seva Samithi (R), Kumaraswamy Layout 2ndStage. The day concluded with NSS-Team Exit Meet. The exit meet encouraged each participant to share the positives and negatives parts of the event that could be taken care in the future events.

  • TEACHER’S DAY and ENGINEER’S DAY CELEBRATION

    TEACHER’S DAY and ENGINEER’S DAY CELEBRATION - 2017

    The department of ECE under the banner of e-club had organized “TEACHER’S DAY and ENGINEER’S DAY CELEBRATION” on 18/09/2017 from 2PM to 5PM.

    The event commenced with the Quiz, Idea Presentation and Pick and speaks held in the department. Several students took part in all the events with great enthusiasm. Pick and speak competition was judged by Prof. Deepa.N.P and Prof. Sapna.P.J. The judges for idea presentation were Prof. Pradeep and Dr. Kiran Gupta. The Teachers day function was held in CD Sagar Auditorium at 3 30pm.

    The Inauguration of the event was done by Dr. Dinesha (Dean of EC 2nd shift), Dr. Kiran Gupta and Dr. Sudha. There was a colourful welcome followed by lighting of the lamp. It was accompanied by a melodious song playing in the background. The welcome speech was delivered by one of the student co-ordinators, Mr. Thippeswamy.D.R welcoming all the teachers and students to the event. Soon after this Dr. Dinesha addressed the gathering and enlightened us about the importance of Engineers day.

    The grand event began with a musical performance by Vishnu. S and team. It was truly a mesmerizing performance and the audience enjoyed and swayed to the tunes of the team. Then it was time for the teachers to have fun and there were several games conducted for the teachers including Anthyakshari, Cups, Flips and Dabs arrangements. The teachers actively took part in all the fun games and it was a treat to watch them be de-stressed and happy. Then there was a graceful dance performance by the girls of our department and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

    This was followed by Prize distribution to the winners of Poster Presentation, Quiz, Pick n Speak and Idea presentation. Then Dr. Sudha K L shared her views and opinions about the entire event. She spoke about her passion for teaching and truly inspired us with her talk.

    Finally, the event was concluded by a formal Vote of thanks by Sharmila Urs (Student co- ordinator).

    Industrial visit to ISRO satellite centre(ISAC):

    An Industrial visit was organised to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) by ECE department of Dayanand Sagar College of engineering. For 5th Semester students, on 16th Nov 2016.The tour included of 60 students and 2 Lecturers. ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), at Bangalore is engaged in Developing satellite technology and implementation of satellite systems for scientific, technological and application missions.

  • Workshop on “An Introduction to Advanced Design System”:

    Workshop on “An Introduction to Advanced Design System”:

    Applied Real Tech Systems Pvt. Ltd. is the official vendor of Keysight products in India. In order to promote their industry standard application software and to introduce RF design methodology to researches ARTS in association with Department of ECE, DSCE, organised a one day workshop titled “Introduction to Advanced Design System (ADS)”, on 4th November 2016.

    Mr. Anand Jain, application engineer gave an overview of the company and introduced various products of ARTS such as oscilloscopes and Vector Network Analyzers.

    Later, Mr. Satish Kumar, application engineer, gave an overview of Keysight ADS. He emphasised the various applications of ADS in Industry, Research Organisations and Academia. The participants were delighted by his talks. This was followed by hands on sessions.

    1. L-band Impedance matching network design by optimization of passive RLC network
    2. ISM band, Micro strip, Inset-fed antenna design and characterisation.

    Mr. Anand Jain, gave a demo of FIELDFOX vector Network Analyser (return loss measurement of the antennas designed by researcher’s of the department) and discussed measurement techniques using the same. Our students and research scholars (37 participants in total) were actively involved in both the sessions.

    Finally the workshop was concluded by summarizing the sessions by the department Head. He also emphasized that the department seeks active collaboration with ARTS in forth coming days to promote RF circuit design among scholars and students.

    IEEE DSCE Students’ Branch conducted its IEEE Day on 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th of October 2016 where several events were conducted.

    VALEDICTORY FUNCTION:

    We conducted the valedictory function on 7th of October 2016. This event was graced by presence of our principal Dr. C.P.S. Prakash. This event could not have been possible without the help from Dr. T. C. Manjunath and Dr. Kiran Gupta. We also conducted the final round of quiz. The winners were awarded with certificates for their great achievements in the various events.

    The DSCE OPEN DAY project exhibition was held for entire college.

    The Department of E&C had organized the DSCE OPEN DAY (Srishti-2016) innovative project exhibition in the department on 11th May 2016

    The exhibition housed around 58 projects.

    The project exhibition presentation was divided into 4 categories. 1. Best project presentation 2. Best project 3. Best innovative project 4. Best social relevance project

    The judges were Dr. Srinivasiah , Dr. Dhanalakshmi , Dr.Venkatesha and Dr. Krishna mohan and Scientist Sri Punith Mishra from ISAC, announced the batches that won the Prizes in different categories of Srishti 2016

    A five-day Faculty Development Program had been organised by the department of Electronics and Communication on “Design and Development of Embedded System using MSP430” from 18th January to 22nd January.

    The FDP program began at 10.00 A.M with a formal inaugural function held at A V Auditorium, DSCE. The function was presided over by Dr C P S Prakash, Principal, DSCE, Mr. Sandeep S C, Assistant professor, Dept. of ECE.
