He provided a stepwise guideline of resources recycling and experimental details on how commercially important metals Mn, Co and Li from cathode materials of spent Li-ion batteries can again recycled. His talk was also based on nuclear waste disposable management and removal of toxic cancerous dyes from water samples.

    Engineering Conclave 2021

    Placing our students and empowering them with the present scenario of employment requirements is significant. For this, bridging the gap between industries and institutions will enable students in taking up real-time projects. Engineering conclave would help in reaching out this, wherein, the involvement of an industry expert in curriculum designing lead to understand and inculcate the required components for industry. The Engineering conclave was held on 7th August 2021at 10 AM virtually on the Zoom platform, from the Department of Chemistry to discuss autonomous syllabus and scheme of I/II SEM Engineering Chemistry (19CH1ICCHY/19CH2ICCHY), Engineering Chemistry Lab (19CH1ILCHY/19CH2ILCH), Institutional Elective VI SEM Characterization Techniques for Engineering Materials (17CM6IECTQ) and for VII SEM Chemistry of Engineering Materials (IECM76).

    Our respected Principal Dr. C.P.S. Prakash addressed and highlighted the importance of this event to address some of the major Engineering challenges relevant to society as well as the country and to suggest suitable Engineering solutions. Dr. K.S. Anantharaju, Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry also highlighted the importance of focussed efforts of the department towards features of scheme and syllabus, publications, patents, projects and webinars. An industry expert Dr. Shyam S Rao, Executive Vice President & strategic business unit head of the industrial ceramic division, CUMI, India assessed the syllabus and scheme. He also appreciated the rejuvenating curriculum which we were following all these days.

    The valuable Outcomes of Engineering conclave 2021 includes:

    1. Syllabus and schemes were analyzed by industry expert meeting and concluded that syllabus is broad and meets industry demands.
    2. Raman spectroscopy methods and its applications were needed to include in current schemes.
    3. Prepared schemes and experiments, nurture the research culture and innovative culture. This filled the gap and graduates can be considered as a developed skilled workforce.
    4. Schemes and syllabus are concise, sustainable and ability to provide knowledge to develop novel technology.
    5. A new technology polymer for 3D printing and replacement of polarograpy via amperometric methods was highly appreciated.
